What We’ll Be Saying On Monday

We will give you Monday’s headlines today as we touch on both the NCAA and NFL weekend.

We will once again look into our crystal ball and give you Monday’s headlines today from college football and the NFL.

No Upsets In The Top 10

Although many are calling for an Ole Miss upset in Death Valley, the stadium alone is not a reason to pick a very young LSU team to derail Ole Miss. LSU shouldn’t be ranked and it’s debatable whether Ole Miss should be ranked where they are, but this seems like a mismatch.

The rest of the Top 10 should roll pretty easily and Michigan State will beat Michigan so badly that Brady Hoke will consider resigning after the game….but he won’t. Unfortunately for Hoke, things are going so terrible that his next head coaching job might be in high school.

Ohio State Runs It Up; USC Loses Their 3rd

The Ohio State Buckeyes travel to Penn State where they are having another “White-Out.” The fans could be dressed up in complete KISS regalia (like Tom Izzo) and it really wouldn’t matter. The Buckeyes are a much better team and quarterback J.T. Barrett will win a Heisman at some point in his career. Urban Meyer’s team needs style points and they’ll put up plenty in this game.

The USC Trojans are just a few plays away from being undefeated. In related news, if my grandmother had wheels she’d be a bicycle. It’s tough to win road games in the Pac 12 and USC will fall a little short against a pretty solid Utah team to lose their third game of the season. This may be a Christmas week bowl type of season for the Trojans, but next year they will be a national title contender.

Bears Save Their Season In New England

The Chicago Bears enter Sunday’s game with a 3-4 record after losing to the Miami Dolphins last Sunday at home. What’s worse is that there has been plenty of distractions, beginning with the argument between Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Marshall and his best friend and quarterback, Jay Cutler.

To add more fuel to the fire, former Bears’ great Brian Urlacher lambasted Cutler on a radio interview.

“You look at the [Tom] Bradys, the [Peyton] Mannings, the [Aaron] Rodgers, the [Drew] Brees, those guys win every year, even with no one around them,” Urlacher said. “Rodgers has no offensive line. He wins. Brady has no receivers. He wins.

“And you look at Jay. He’s got Brandon [Marshall], Alshon [Jeffery], Matt [Forte], this great offensive line, Martellus Bennett, and they can’t seem to put it together for some reason. I’m not sure if that’s his fault, but for some reason they just can’t figure it out.”

Amid all of the controversy the Bears will band together and take their road act (which has been better than their home act) to New England, where the Pats have won 17 of their last 18 regular season home games, and find a way to pull off an upset.

Arena Football Style Scoring

This weekend has all the makings of fantasy shootouts as this should be one of the highest scoring weekends in NFL history. More than half of the winners from this Sunday will score over 30 points and Sunday night’s game between the Packers and Saints feature a pair of future Hall of Fame signal callers that will feast on some terrible opposing defenses. Look for your fantasy games to be be in the 100’s and a few of the combined scores to be near that.

In the NFL, it’s always better to admit a mistake than to compound it. For the Buccaneers, the decision to burn a 2016 second-round pick on kicker Robert Aguayo has proven to be a mistake. The Buccaneers made the definitive admission of their error on Saturday, cutting Aguayo. He exits with $428,000 in fully-guaranteed salary [more]
