Bengals WR Green ruled out

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green, who left Wednesday’s practice on a cart after appearing to aggravate an injury to the big toe on his right foot, will not play Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Green was going through agility drills 15 minutes into practice when he stopped, removed his shoe and slammed it down in disgust.

Without Green, who leads the NFL’s top 40 receivers with 18.5 yards per catch and has a team-best 17 receptions, Mohamed Sanu and Brandon Tate are expected to start.

The Bengals are still without their other starting wide receiver, Marvin Jones, who injured his ankle last week in his second practice back from a broken foot that forced him to miss all of the preseason and the first four regular-season games.

Green initially injured the toe in the first quarter of the season opener against Baltimore, but he played through the pain and caught a game-winning 77-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter.

The following week against Atlanta he played just five snaps before the pain forced him from the game. Green played in both contests after that and has missed just one game in his four-year career.

Top tight end Tyler Eifert is on injured reserve-recall until Week 10.

Offensive coordiantor Hue Jackson said he was not concerned about playing without Green.

“I’m not worried about it,” Jackson said. “I can’t. At the end of the day, I’m never going to be worried about what’s going on with any player on our football team. I’ve just got to coach the guys who are out there and get everybody ready to play.”
