Per a source, former Tennessee Vols quarterback Nash Nance has had visits with both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers. Nance, who led Calhoun High School (Georgia) to the Class AA state championship game in 2009, was a three-star recruit being sought after by over 15 Division I schools that included West Virginia, Florida Mississippi State, Arkansas, Texas and others. He played two years with the Vols before transferring to Hampden-Sydney. Nance brings all the intangibles to the table to be considered a truly legitimate prospect.

Hampden-Sydney head coach Marty Favret system was the perfect stage for allowing Nance to unveil his NFL arm and also learning to play under pressure. He finished his career with 9,123 passing yards for 80 touchdowns. Nance also finished with over 1,000 yards rushing (1,096) and 30 touchdowns.

“He’s as bright as any quarterback I’ve coached in 21 years,” said Coach Favret. “Combine that with his size and athleticism (6-foot-2, 212 pounds) and he’s a really intriguing prospect at the next level.”

Nance has been all over the country working with some of the best quarterback’s coaches and quarterback camps since first playing the position going under center his freshman year in high school. He possesses the ability throw and run the football.

The Buccaneers are in transition at the quarterback position. Incumbent Mike Glennon’s time in Tampa Bay is drawing to a close with the anticipated arrival of rookie Jameis Winston via the NFL Draft. Former Northern Colorado quarterback Seth Locator currently is the only other quarterback on the Bucs’ roster.

In Carolina, the team is set with Cam Newton under center for many years to come, and behind Newton is top-tier back-up Derek Anderson. Joe Webb serves as the team’s third-string quarterback and adding a guy like Nance makes since for the long term is the team is looking to develop and younger back-up to Newton.
