Per an NFL source, the Atlanta Falcons are still considering making the selection of Missouri defensive end Shane Ray with the eighth overall pick in the NFL Draft.

This past Monday (April 27th) leading up to the NFL Draft, Ray was cited for misdemeanor possession of up to 35 grams of marijuana after being stopped for speeding by a Missouri State Highway officer. Despite the recent incident FootballInsiders.com has learned that Ray is still valued as a top-ten selection by the Falcons.

Ray has a tremendously impressive first-step that helped him lead the SEC in both sacks (13.5) and tackles-for loss (20.5). His size (6-foot-3, 245 pounds) and ability combined with his athleticism are revealing that he’ll still be in play tonight when the first round begins in Chicago at the Auditorium Theatre.

His background includes being staff for the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star game as a talent evaluator for player personnel along with an internship scouting with the Toronto Argonauts and Winnipeg Blue Bombers for the Canadian Football League.
