An MRI revealed that the surgically repaired left knee of San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman checked out “fine,” but there is still no timetable for his possible return to action, CSNBayArea.com reported on Thursday.

The deadline is Tuesday for the 49ers to declare Bowman available to practice and have him available for the playoffs.

Bowman tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee during last season’s NFC Championship game. Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery on Feb. 4.

At the moment, his rehabilitation involves running and changing directions.

The 49ers (5-4) need to play well down the stretch just to make the playoffs. Besides Bowman, linebacker Patrick Willis is out for the rest of the season because of a toe injury.
