BALTIMORE — Steve Smith tormented his former team by catching seven passes for 139 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Baltimore Ravens to a 38-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco was 22 of 31 for 327 yards with three touchdowns. He had a passer rating of 137.4.

After starting the season 2-0, Carolina has now lost two straight games — both to AFC North teams. The Panthers return home against the Chicago Bears in Week 5.

Carolina quarterback Cam Newton played under consistent pressure for much of the game. He completed 14 of 25 passes for 197 yards with a touchdown. He was also sacked twice.

Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams returned to the lineup after missing the past two games with a thigh injury. He left the game in the second quarter with an ankle injury and was limited to 11 carries for 34 yards.

Flacco went early and often to Smith, who had five catches for 122 yards and both of his touchdowns in the first half, helping the Ravens to a 21-7 lead at the break. Flacco then found wide receiver Torrey Smith for another 24-yard touchdown on the first possession of the third quarter to increase the margin.

After Graham Gano managed a 37-yard field goal for the Panthers, Baltimore put together another 80-yard drive, capped by a 1-yard run rookie running back Lorenzo Taliaferro and the Ravens led 35-10 with 11:34 left in the game.

Baltimore (3-1), which has won three consecutive games after a season-opening loss to the Bengals, now goes on the road for two straight weeks against the Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Ravens opened a 7-0 when Flacco’s pass was tipped by tight end Owen Daniels to Steve Smith, who ran 61 yards for the score with 13:12 left in the half. Carolina responded on the next possession when Newton threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin.

Baltimore regained the lead when Flacco orchestrated a 80-yard drive that running back Justin Forsett finished off with a 11-yard scoring run. The Ravens then increased the lead to 21-7 when Flacco found Steve Smith for a 21-yard touchdown with 1:53 left in the half. NOTES: Ravens rookie LT James Hurst made his first start in place of the injured Eugene Monroe. Hurst was a four-year starter and first-team All-ACC selection at North Carolina. … Baltimore RB Bernard Pierce returned to the lineup after missing last week’s game with a thigh injury. Justin Forsett got the start. … Carolina placed T Garry Williams on injured reserve and elevated RB Tauren Poole from the practice squad for depth. RBs Jonathan Stewart (knee) and Fozzy Whittaker (thigh) were both inactive because of injuries.
