Dolphins 37, Vikings 35

Exciting game in Miami, but more important than the game was owner Stephen Ross’ proclamation that head coach Joe Philbin will be back next season. Minnesota’s arrow is pointed north and it’s not that crazy to think that Teddy Bridgewater might be the second-best QB in the NFC North next year.

Texans 25, Ravens 13

Baltimore is the latest example of a team that’s record was inflated by the NFC and AFC South divisions. Just another mediocre team. Big credit to the Texans for playing with pride when they have nothing to gain. J.J. Watt is a monster (every week).

Lions 20, Bears 14

Matt Stafford is going to have to play better if the Lions are going to last more than one week in the playoffs. Jimmy Clausen actually played okay and the Bears defense played one of their best games of the season. That doesn’t mean that Marc Trestman should stay employed.

Panthers 17, Browns 13

Johnny Football was knocked out of the game before he could look too horrible. Brian Hoyer took over and showed why he was benched in the first place. The Panthers won to set up a winner-take-all NFC South rumble on Sunday against the Falcons.

Falcons 30, Saints 14

Matt Ryan has really had a nice season even if few outside of the ATL have noticed. A win next Sunday in Charlotte could save Mike Smith’s job. The Saints were clearly the most disappointing team in 2014. Has Sean Payton been there too long? Is Drew Brees worth $18+ million next year?

Packers 20, Buccaneers 3

Aaron Rodgers didn’t look anywhere near 100 percent, but he didn’t need to be to beat the Bucs.Tampa Bay is winless at home and Lovie Smith has done an atrocious job this year.

Steelers 20, Chiefs 12

The Steelers are one win away from returning to the playoffs as AFC North champs. If they weren’t going to play another AFC North team in the playoffs they’d probably lose. Alex Smith is a good quarterback, but he’s limited and the Chiefs will always be limited as well with him under center.

Patriots 17, Jets 16

The Jets fought hard, but they just don’t have enough talent on the roster, especially under center. New England played poorly, but won. They’re one win away from home field advantage.

Giants 37, Rams 27

This is positive proof that teams are different throughout the season. The Giants have seemingly figured out their offense and defense and are a much better team than their 6-9 record would suggest. St. Louis is your classic Jeff Fisher team; A few great wins that make him look like a genius, but not enough to consistently get his team where they need to be.

Raiders 26, Bills 24

Oakland is another team that embraced the spoiler role on Sunday as they ended the Bills playoff chances. Derek Carr is a gutsy quarterback. Buffalo needs a big time quarterback or at least someone better than Kyle Orton.

Cowboys 42, Colts 7

These are not your slightly older cousin’s Dallas Cowboys. Tony Romo is a big time quarterback no matter how much you think he’s not. Indianapolis is heading toward another one-and-done in the playoffs.

Seahawks 35, Cardinals 6

Ryan Lindley was in over his head. The Seahawks are playing championship level football as they enter the postseason, likely with home field advantage. They have to be the favorite to get back to the Super Bowl.
