Super Bowl Media Day has a new name and will be shifted from Tuesday, the typical day off for NFL players, to Monday night for Super Bowl 50 in February.

The NFL announced Super Bowl Opening Night will take place Monday, Feb. 1, at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., and be the first scheduled player and coach media availability of the league’s landmark event. Six days later, the 50th Super Bowl is scheduled to be held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. PT with interviews from approximately 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. PT and 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. PT. on Monday.

“We are excited to enhance an annual event and provide a unique experience for more fans in both the San Francisco Bay Area and nationwide, while continuing to provide access to the Super Bowl teams for media from around the world,” said NFL Senior Vice President of Events Peter O’Reilly said in a release. “By elevating the event to primetime, fans across the country can experience even more of the excitement of Super Bowl leading up to the game.”

The NFL began selling tickets to the Super Bowl media gathering in 2012, letting fans observe interviews from stadium seats and listen to specific player interviews via handheld radio and earphones provided by the league.

Musical guests and player and cheerleader appearances are also planned for the event this year.
