Everyone seemingly loves comparing NFL Draft prospects with former or current NFL players who maybe look like them or attended the same school.

Usually those comparisons are wrong and we’re going to dispel some myths about a few prospects in this year’s draft class.

Joey Bosa is NOT J.J. Watt

So Joey Bosa was a great pass rusher in the Big 10.

He is also a caucasian.

What he is not is three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt.

Sure, both players starred in the Big 10, but that’s where most of the similarities end.  Bosa is roughly 25 pounds lighter than Watt, nowhere near as strong and not the same type of elite athlete that can wreck anyone’s game plan.

That doesn’t mean Bosa isn’t an excellent defensive end prospect that shouldn’t go in the Top 5 of the draft. He uses outstanding technique to dominate his collegiate opponents and although that technique will certainly help him on the next level, he will not be able to simply overwhelm his opponents with athleticism as Watt does.

Jalen Ramsey is NOT Deion Sanders

It’s entirely possible that FSU defensive back Jalen Ramsey can be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

He has athleticism that will make any talent evaluator drool and the size (6-foot-1) that is coveted to be able to compete physically with the Dez Bryant’s and A.J. Green’s of the world.

Although he went to the same school (Florida State) as the great Deion Sanders, he has a long way to go before he will develop the technique to mirror one of the greatest Seminoles and perhaps the greatest cover cornerback ever.

Ramsey may be the best player in the draft and the Titans, Browns, Chargers, Cowboys or Jaguars would be very fortunate to have him.  With that said, let’s not start crafting that Hall of Fame bust as of yet.

Carson Wentz is NOT Joe Flacco

Quarterbacks always seem to be the most fun players to craft comparisons to and they’re often the most incorrect.

North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz is a tall, dominant FCS player who will go in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

With that said, he is not former Delaware Blue Hen Super Bowl winning quarterback Joe Flacco.

Flacco has a better arm than Wentz, and has played his best football in the biggest spots.

Wentz has enough arm to succeed, and certainly has the clutch gene, albeit at a much lower level.

To say that Wentz isn’t Flacco is not a knock on Wentz.  His upside is actually higher.

If Carson Wentz goes to the right team in the right system he could be a multiple Pro Bowler.
