The stage is set for the ultimate showdown between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers Christmas afternoon. However, the Ravens were dangerously close to coming into this matchup with a two-game losing streak.

Baltimore held on to defeat Philadelphia 27-26 after the Eagles failed to convert their two-point attempt near the end of the game. Nonetheless, according to head coach John Harbaugh, it shouldn’t have even come down to that.

With a 10-point lead with little over seven minutes left in the contest, Joe Flacco connected with Mike Wallace for a huge 54-yard gain to the Eagles 11-yard line. At this point, Baltimore could’ve run the ball three times and at the bare minimum extend the lead to 13 points. Nevertheless, offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg elected to stay aggressive and it resulted in a Flacco interception.

Harbaugh was not pleased with the play call.

“All-time worst call ever. I’ll take responsibility for it,” Harbaugh said. “I should have vetoed it right away … I like an aggressive mindset, but that was way too aggressive. It’s the worst play call we’ve had, and it’s my fault. It should have never happened. We should have never been in that situation as a result of that.”

Fortunately for Harbaugh and company, it didn’t come back to haunt them, but one must wonder if Harbaugh will take over more of the play calling going forward.
