Heading into their wild card matchup against the Houston Texans, no one really gave Oakland much of a chance and for good reason. Quarterback Connor Cook was making his first ever NFL start, which didn’t end well as expected.

Following a dreadful first half, some thought head coach Jack Del Rio may have gone in a different direction under center but that wasn’t the case.

“I asked at halftime and the coaches really felt that there were other things that were kind of contributing and there wasn’t going to be a big change based on the change at quarterback,” Del Rio said after the loss. “So we stayed the course with it.”

Cook ended the game completing 18-of-45 for 161 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions.
