We often talk about front offices that display great class and humility, but you’ll be hard pressed to find an organization that presents those qualities more than the Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts are without question a class A organization, so it comes as no surprise that they attract a certain type of athlete to their franchise.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at their mount rushmore.

Peyton Manning – Although his departure from Indy may have rubbed some people the wrong way, there’s no denying the fact Peyton Manning is the best player this franchise has ever seen.

During his long tenure in Indy, Manning was a 12-time Pro Bowler, four-time MVP, Super Bowl champion and he wound up being the franchise all-time leader in wins, passing touchdowns, passing yards and completions.

Not to mention, Manning finished his career as the all-time leader in passing touchdowns with 539, right above Brett Favre.

Even though Manning didn’t finish his career in Indy, that won’t change how he feels about this organization.

“It was my honor and privilege to play for this organization for 14 years,” Manning said. “I’ll always be a Colt.”

Marvin Harrison – For as great as Peyton Manning was, he wouldn’t have near the accolades without the services of Marvin Harrison.

Back in 1996, Harrison was drafted with the 19th overall pick.

The great route running Harrison played all 13 seasons in the blue and white, which ended up placing him as the best pass catcher in Colts history.

Harrison leads the franchise in receptions (1,102), receiving yards (14,580) and receiving touchdowns (128)

Reggie Wayne – As you see, Marvin Harrison deserves everything that comes his way as being the best receiver in Colts history, but Reggie Wayne is right there.

Wayne is second to Harrison in every major statistical category pertaining to wide receivers.

When Wayne came out of the University of Miami, expectations were relatively high as he was selected late in the first round.

Just like Harrison, Wayne benefitted from playing with Peyton.

Throughout his 13-year career in Indy, Wayne reached the Pro Bowl six times, while leading the league in receiving yards back in 2007.

Even after Manning left, Wayne exploded for 106 catches for 1,355 yards to go along with five touchdowns during Andrew Luck’s rookie season.

Dwight Freeney – When you think about the Colts, more like than likely offense comes to mind first, but don’t let that fool you because Dwight Freeney deserves to be mentioned in the franchises mount rushmore.

Freeney holds the franchise record for most sacks with 107.5

Also, Freeney was named to eight Pro Bowls during his Indy days, while being pronounced as the AFC Defensive Player of the Year in 2005.

In the midst of his 11-year career with the Colts, Freeney totaled 10 or more sacks in seven seasons.

Despite Freeney being in Arizona now, he’ll always be remembered as a Colt before anything else. 

“I’ll be honest with you: I was surprised the way it happened,” he stated upon his departure. “I figured they would offer me something low and I would just accept it, go the last few years and retire a Colt.”
