“So begins the run on defensive backs? It was only a matter of time, really. I’m a little bit surprised that the first character-concern guy not named Jameis Winston off the board is the one who got kicked off his college team, but hey, everybody needs corners and Marcus Peters is about as talented as they come. Peters is a ball hawk and has the size to compete with any receiver. Andy Reid must think he can coach him up and get the most out of him. I’m not so sure.” – Devon Jeffreys

“The Marcus Peters pick by Kansas City reeks a little of both arrogance and desperation as the Chiefs are selecting a guy who was kicked off his college team in the first round of the draft.  Peters is certainly a talent, but Byron Jones may have been a better selection.  This is another example of how cornerback is truly one of the most premium positions in football.” – Charlie Bernstein

“Some thought Marcus Peters wouldn’t be drafted in the first round at all after Peters was thrown off of the Washington Huskies, but others considered him the best cornerback prospect in the draft. There were rumors that some teams had taken Peters off their boards altogether, but the Chiefs clearly saw him as a talent they couldn’t pass on. If Peterson’s character is different than he showed in college, the Chiefs may just have a steal on their hands. Few question Peters’ ability, but there are plenty of question marks around the young man.” – Pat Donovan
