The NFL Draft has come and gone.

As we digest what went down over the weekend, let’s see which incoming rookies fit the best from each round.

First round

Jacksonville Jaguars selected cornerback Jalen Ramsey with the fifth overall pick:

This pick was a no-brainer for Jacksonville on so many different levels. First of all, the Jaguars already have the young nucleus in place offensively to compete for years to come. Secondly, Jacksonville’s secondary was absolutely atrocious a season ago.

The Jaguars ranked 29th against the pass in 2015, but with Jalen Ramsey on board, expect for that ranking to improve fairly quickly. We know about Ramsey’s physical traits that could make him a future hall of famer one day, but the fact that he really wants to be a Jaguar is more telling.

During Ramsey’s pre-draft visit, he had the chance to meet head coach Gus Bradley and he was left very impressed. 

“He’s such a real man, a Godly man,” Ramsey said. “He’s someone I want to play for a long time, a really long time – hopefully my whole career. Just can’t really explain how excited I am to be a part of this organization.”

This sounds like a perfect marriage.

Second Round 

New Orleans Saints selected safety Vonn Bell with the 61st overall pick:

It feels like New Orleans has been bad defensively forever now, especially in the secondary, which is why the selection of Ohio State product Von Bell makes all the sense in the world.

When it comes to cover skills, he’s arguably the best this draft class has to offer.

During his three seasons in Columbus, Bell generated nine interceptions with six of them coming his sophomore year. After a season in which New Orleans allowed a NFL-record 45 touchdown passes, Bell is more than welcomed in the ‘big easy’.

Third round 

Houston Texans selected wide receiver Braxton Miller with the 85th overall pick:

After selecting wide receiver Will Fuller in the first round, the Houston Texans weren’t quite done surrounding newcomer Brock Osweiler with weapons on the perimeter.

Former quarterback turned wide receiver, Braxton Miller, looks to add some much needed depth at the position. Miller possess good size at 6-foot-1, 201 pounds, and he’s a freak athlete.

Although Miller is very unexperienced at the position, he will be a major threat in the open field.

Fourth round

Dallas Cowboys selected pass rusher Charles Tapper with the 101st overall pick:

There’s no secret Dallas’ pass rush needs improvement, especially with Greg Hardy not coming back and Randy Gregory being suspended for the first four games of this upcoming season.

Through the first three rounds, the Cowboys failed to address that need, which puts tons of pressure on Charles Tapper moving forward.

Nonetheless, Tapper has great size at 6-foot-3, 271 pounds, but what really makes him an interesting prospect is his athleticism.

Tapper ran a 40-time of 4.59.

Fifth round 

Carolina Panthers selected cornerback Zach Sanchez with the 141st overall pick:

Following the loss of Josh Norman, the Carolina Panthers are scrambling to replace his production. Three of their first four picks were cornerbacks, but Zach Sanchez has the best value in the fifth round.

Before Sanchez was even drafted, Panthers head coach Ron Rivera raved about the Oklahoma product. 

“Coach Rivera told me that I’m going to be a great player in this league regardless of where I am at,” Sanchez stated. “Hearing that from a head coach in the NFL is reassuring and good to hear.

“It helps my confidence level in knowing that people believe I can be a player in this league. That was one of the things that helped solidify my decision.”

During his three years in Norman, Sanchez generated 15 interceptions and he isn’t shy to let you know about it.

“I’m the best defensive playmaker in the draft, hands down,” Sanchez confidentially said. “Nobody can create turnovers the way that I can. Nobody gets their hands on more balls than I do. There are obviously things in my technique that I have to fix, but I have something you can’t coach, that’s natural instincts and a gift for making plays. You can’t coach players to make plays.”

Sixth round 

Los Angeles Rams selected Tight End Temarrick Hemingway with the 177th overall pick

Before the draft, the Los Angeles Rams were very slim at the tight end position, but now they feel like they’ve added some quality depth. Now, Hemingway may not even make the team, however, he does have the size at 6-foot-5, 244 pounds. Plus, he ran a 4.7 40-yard dash.

Los Angeles also drafted tight end Tyler Higbee in the fourth round.

Seventh round

Cleveland Browns selected inside linebacker Scooby Wright III with the 250th overall pick

For someone that received national honors in 2014, it’s bizarre to see Scooby Wright III be amongst one of the last picks in the draft. Having said that, there’s some major red flags concerning Scooby.

Teams are concerned about his ability to be efficient in space.

After all, Wright III had an underwhelming 40-time of 4.9.

Also, there’s concerns about his durability after he missed majority of the 2015 season due to a torn meniscus.

With all of that being said, being able to get a guy as accomplished as Wright III in the seventh round is a steal.
