MOBILE, AL–The 2016 Reese’s Senior Bowl is underway and there have been a few players on each of the team’s that have stood out in a positive way.  We’re going to examine those players a little more closely.

Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State- The football simply looks different coming off Wentz’s hand than any of the other quarterbacks here.  He’s been far from perfect, but he’s head and shoulders above any of the other quarterbacks in Mobile.  More of a pocket passer than originally thought, but he can run if necessary.

Deion Jones, ILB, LSU- Jones has stood out in a good way so far in practice and through the first few days he’s garnered the attention of evaluators everywhere.

One prominent executive told Football Insiders about Jones, “He really stands out on film and he stands out here too.  That’s what you like to see.”

Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley brought up Jones when asked about which players caught his eye.

Le’Raven Clark, OT, Texas Tech- Clark began his Senior Bowl in impressive fashion on Tuesday, and then doubled-down with his performance Wednesday.  He has looked like the best offensive tackle on either squad and the transition from a spread offense to pro style hasn’t affected him thus far.

Spencer Drango, OT, Baylor- Drango put together a tremendous effort in Tuesday’s practice, and looked a little more human on Wednesday.  Still, he looks like a player that can be a fixture and Day 1 starter on some NFL team’s offensive line.

“I just love to go out here and compete,” Drango told Football Insiders.  “I want to show everyone what kind of player I am.”

Malcolm Mitchell, WR, Georgia- Mitchell was a standout as he caught everything thrown his way and was able to fight and get separation.  He seems to lack top end speed, but looks the part of a solid possession receiver.

Darian Thompson, S, Boise State– Thompson has practiced very well over the first two days and has done well in coverage.  The 6-foot-2, 212 pound safety looks the part and we’re looking forward to seeing him in the game on Saturday.

“I do have a knack to catch the football and I can make big plays for the defense and get the ball back for the offense,” said Thompson.

Nick Vannett, TE, Ohio State- Vannett is one of the bigger surprises here with way he’s caught the football and the agility that he’s shown.  At 6-foot-6, 260 pounds, he has showed natural ability to catch the football and some wiggle after the catch.
