*Keys to the game: The Jets are third in the NFL with 15 takeaways but lost at New England last week with Patriots QB Tom Brady in unadulterated launch mode offering not even the hint of a running game. The Raiders strive for balance, but loosening the slack on QB Derek Carr’s leash might be wise after his effort last week. Carr has made it a habit to go after the opposition’s top corner each week and CB Darrelle Revis promises to be no exception. Some 300 yards of WR Amari Cooper’s rookie-leading total of 519 have come after the catch.

Stopping RB Chris Ivory and keeping WR Brandon Marshall, on pace for 104 catches, from getting behind the defense are the essentials for the Raiders. Jets offensive coordinator Chan Gailey will need to be as patient with the run game as he was last week. Getting Ivory to move the pile and collect plenty of yards after contact should open up things for QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, who will have opportunities to create big plays.

*Matchup to watch – Jets C Nick Mangold/Dakota Dozier vs. Raiders NT Justin Ellis: The Raiders are third in the NFL against the run (84 yards per game), but Mangold may be out after suffering a scary neck injury last Sunday. That would thrust Dozier, who has six NFL snaps under his belt, into action against Ellis, who was on the PFWA All-Rookie team last season.

*Player spotlight – Jets SS Calvin Pryor: He’s the linchpin for the Jets’ run defense and a key defending intermediate range passes to running backs and tight ends. Pryor (ankle) came out of last week’s loss limping twice and without him the dynamic of the defense changes.

*Fast facts: The Jets have a .372 win percentage all-time in the Mountain and Pacific time zones. … The Raiders have gone 47 games without a three-game win streak.

WHO WILL WIN AND WHY

Raiders QB Derek Carr is fiery, but playing with fire in this secondary flips the field in favor of the Jets, who lean on a veteran offense to get back on track.
