The New York Jets are expected to release running back Chris Johnson and not bring back free agent quarterback Michael Vick in 2015, according to Metro New York.

Both Johnson and Vick were brought in by the Jets last year.

Johnson signed a two-year, $8 million contract after being released by the Tennessee Titans. The Jets have until Monday to decide whether to pay his $500,000 option bonus. The Jets can save $3.5 million by cutting Johnson.

Johnson, a former 2,000-yard back, put together a disappointing season in 2014, rushing 155 times for 663 yards and a touchdown. He also was arrested last month in Orlando, Fla., and charged with the open carrying of a firearm.

Vick, 34, took over for starter Geno Smith several times during the season, appearing in 10 games. He completed 52.9 percent of his passes for 604 yards and three touchdowns.
