The Dallas police department has suspended an investigation into an alleged aggravated assault involving Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib.

Talib and his his older brother, Yaqub, were never arrested or charged in connection with the incident, which allegedly happened in the early morning hours on April 8 outside a nightclub in downtown Dallas.

Team sources told ESPN.com that Talib and his brother were both questioned by police at a different nightclub than the one where the incident occurred.

According to WFAA-TV in Dallas, the Talib brothers were involved in “a physical altercation” with at least one person at Club Luxx, and a gun was fired in the club.

The Dallas Morning News asked about the status of the investigation and the Dallas police department released a statement Friday:

“Dallas Police Assault Detectives have been investigating an alleged offense that occurred in the early morning of April 8, 2015. This incident occurred outside a club at the 700 block of North Pearl. Detectives interviewed the Complainant, contacted witnesses and gathered evidence. Based on these interviews and the evidence currently available, this case has been suspended pending further leads.”

The 29-year-old Talib, who grew up in the Dallas area, signed a six-year, $57 million contract with the Broncos in March 2014 and made the Pro Bowl in each of the last two seasons. In 2014, he had 64 tackles, one sack and four interceptions, including returning two for touchdowns.

Talib was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round in 2008.
