The New England Patriots signed first-year defensive lineman Casey Walker off the Carolina Panthers practice squad on Saturday.

The Patriots also placed defensive lineman Sealver Siliga on injured reserve with a designation to return.

Walker, 24, signed with the Panthers as a rookie free agent out of Oklahoma in 2013. He had 49 tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two pass breakups in 33 games (22 starts) with Oklahoma. He spent part of 2013 on the Carolina practice squad. He was released on Aug. 30 and signed to the Panthers’ practice squad the next day.

Siliga sustained a foot injury in the first half of last Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders. He has eight tackles in the first three games (two starts) this season.
