The NFL can play as many as five games per year at London’s Twickenham Stadium over a three-year period beginning in October 2016, increasing the league’s potential commitment in England.

Already in place and recently extended through 2020 if the NFL’s plan for a minimum of two games per year at Wembley Stadium, which hosted three regular-season games in 2015 for the first time.

“We are committed to continuing to grow our sport in the UK and believe that adding Twickenham Stadium to our roster of host venues in London is further evidence of that commitment,” said Mark Waller, NFL executive vice president of international. “We are very excited to give our fans the opportunity to enjoy NFL action at another world-class venue famous for attracting loyal and passionate fans from across the globe.”

A minimum of five regular-season games are scheduled for London in 2016.

Earlier this year, the NFL reached agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to play at least two games per year at the Premier League club’s new stadium, beginning in 2018.
