Shaun Hill was named the starting quarterback for the St. Louis Rams, who are sending Austin Davis back to the bench with the Denver Broncos coming to town Sunday.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported players were informed at a team meeting Wednesday. Davis won three games by a total of seven points, but his play in the second half of the Week 10 loss at Arizona opened the door for the veteran Hill to return for the first time since the season opener.

Hill is 8 of 13 with one sack and one interception this season.

—The Seattle Seahawks placed Zach Miller on injured reserve with the tight end headed for a second surgery on his injured ankle.

Miller is the second Seattle starter lost for the season in as many days, as the Seahawks placed defensive tackle Brandon Mebane on IR on Tuesday.

Backup tight end Luke Willson, who has started for Miller since Week 5, sprained his ankle for the second time this season against the New York Giants on Sunday. He went through Wednesday’s walk-through practice and could play against the Kansas City Chiefs this week. Reserve tight end Cooper Helfet bruised his knee against the Giants, but has a good chance to play on Sunday, Carroll said.

The team signed tight end RaShaun Allen off the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad on Tuesday to fill Mebane’s roster spot. The team also signed linebacker Allen Bradford off the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad, released linebacker L.J. Fort from the practice squad and placed running back Demitrius Bronson and defensive end Julius Warmsley on practice squad/injured reserve and signed fullback Stanley Havili, defensive end Ryan Robinson and running back Cierre Wood to the practice squad.

—The New York Giants placed running back Michael Cox on season-ending injured reserve with a broken leg and signed running back Orleans Darkwa off the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad Wednesday.

Cox suffered a fractured lower leg after catching a short pass on the Giants’ final offensive possession in their 38-17 loss against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Darkwa was signed by the Dolphins as a rookie free agent out of Tulane on May 13. He was waived on Oct. 6 and signed to Miami’s practice squad two days later.

The Giants also signed cornerback Josh Victorian to their practice squad and cut safety Kyle Sebetic.

—Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson thinks it is time to make some noise about quarterback Robert Griffin III.

As the Redskins prepare for Sunday’s visit by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jackson took it upon himself on to defend Griffin’s leadership and role in the locker room. That leadership was criticized in an ESPN report Sunday morning before the Reskins lost to the Minnesota Vikings 29-26.

“I just felt it was needed,” Jackson said.

Griffin appreciated Jackson going public with his support

—The Tampa Bay Buccaneers promoted cornerback C.J. Wilson from the practice squad to the active roster Wednesday.

The Bucs also signed linebacker Jeremy Grable and guard Jeremiah Warren to the practice squad.

Grable played collegiately at Valdosta State and spent time with Tampa Bay during the 2014 offseason and preseason.

—Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who threw six touchdown passes to tie an NFL record for a half in the blowout win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday night, was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week.

Baltimore Ravens running back Justin Forsett rushed for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 21-7 win over the Tennessee Titans to win the NFC offensive award. Arizona cornerback Patrick Peterson took the NFC defensive honors after lifting the Cardinals to a 31-14 win over the St. Louis Rams with two interceptions in the fourth quarter, one of which was returned 30 yards for a touchdown.

Philadelphia Eagles running back and punt returner Darren Sproles took a punt back 65 yards for the score in a 45-21 blowout win over the Carolina Panthers on Monday night to win the NFC special teams award.

New York Jets safety Jaiquawn Jarrett had 10 tackles, two picks, a sack and a fumble recovery in the stunning 20-13 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers to take the AFC defensive honors. Kansas City Chiefs fullback Anthony Sherman forced a key fumble on a punt return and had three more special teams tackles in a 17-13 win over Buffalo to earn the AFC award.

—The Minnesota Vikings re-signed tight end Ryan Otten to the team’s practice squad Wednesday.

The 6-foot-6, 241-pound Otten was waived from the Vikings’ practice squad on Nov. 3. He spent most of the 2013 season on the San Diego Chargers’ practice squad.
