San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Darnell Dockett and Buffalo Bills outside linebacker IK Enemkpali were among the notable cuts Friday as NFL teams started reducing their rosters to the mandatory 53-man limit by Saturday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline.

Dockett signed a two-year, $7.25 million deal — $2 million guaranteed — with the 49ers in March as a free agent after missing all of last season with a torn ACL. He did not play in Thursday night’s preseason finale against the San Diego Chargers because of a rib contusion. Dockett, 34, played 10 seasons with the Arizona Cardinals prior to his ACL injury. He has 40.5 career sacks.

The Bills signed Enemkpali, a second-year pass rusher, one day after he was cut by the New York Jets for punching starting quarterback Geno Smith.

Enemkpali, a sixth-round pick last season, reunited with Bills coach Rex Ryan after the locker-room dust-up with Smith over $600.

–The New York Giants acquired punter Brad Wing from the Pittsburgh Steelers and released veteran punter Steve Weatherford. The Steelers will receive a conditional seventh-round draft choice.

Weatherford, 32, spent the last four seasons of his 11-year NFL career with the Giants.

Wing, originally undrafted out of LSU in 2013, punted in all 16 regular-season games for the Steelers last season and also handled their holding duties.

–The Atlanta Falcons acquired guard Andy Levitre from the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in 2016 and a future conditional draft pick.

The 6-foot-2, 303-pound Levitre was originally selected by the by the Buffalo Bills in the second round (51st overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Oregon State. He spent four seasons with the Bills, and started all 64 games during those four years. In 2013, Levitre signed with the Titans as an unrestricted free agent and started all 32 games during his two-year tenure.

–The Houston Texans released defensive tackle Louis Nix and running back Kenny Hilliard, according to reports.

The Texans drafted Nix in the third round of the 2014 draft out of Notre Dame. He spent his entire rookie season on injured reserve.

Hilliard was taken in the seventh round in this year’s draft. The LSU product likely would be a practice squad candidate if he doesn’t land elsewhere.
