New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith said Monday that he does not intend to press charges against former teammate Ikemefuna Enemkpali, who punched him during a locker-room confrontation last month.

Enemkpali broke the starting quarterback’s jaw in two places Aug. 11, and Smith is expected to miss the first month of the season.

Smith, who had screws and metal plates inserted into his jaw, said he has been pain-free for two or three weeks.

Speaking to media for the first time since he was injured, Smith did not say much about the incident with Enemkpali, who was released by the team immediately afterward.

“I just want to move on. That’s what I’ve done,” said Smith, who did not reveal whether the linebacker apologized to him or whether Smith paid the $600 thought to be the source of contention.

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will start the opener for the Jets.

–The Cleveland Browns signed former St. Louis Rams quarterback Austin Davis as insurance because of backup Johnny Manziel’s sore right elbow.

Davis would be ready if needed to serve as the backup to starter Josh McCown when the Browns open the season Sunday against the New York Jets.

However, Manziel resumed throwing Monday during the early portion of practice open to the media. He had not thrown with his right arm in practice since Aug. 23.

–The Browns suspended offensive line coach Andy Moeller indefinitely following an incident over the weekend.

The Browns released a statement regarding Moeller, who is in his second year with the team.

“Browns offensive line coach Andy Moeller has been suspended indefinitely by the team effective immediately,” the statement read. “Over the weekend, Andy was involved in an incident, involving allegations that we take very seriously. We have followed our internal protocol, determining that right now it is best for the team and for Andy to take time away from the organization to focus on his personal matters. We are going to respect the process of investigation on this personal matter and will have no further comment at this time.”

Moeller has had three alcohol-related incidents since 2007.

–New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul was expected to meet with the team and take a physical on Monday.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported that JPP is flying to New York to meet with Giants medical personnel in East Rutherford, N.J., to determine when he might be able to play.

Pierre-Paul lost his right index finger, broke his thumb and suffered severe burns on his hands after a fireworks accident on the Fourth of July near his home in south Florida.

–The Giants signed safety Craig Dahl, a member of their Super Bowl XLII championship team in 2007, and released safety Stevie Brown.

— The Green Bay Packers signed wide receiver James Jones, who last played for the Packers in 2013, when he had 59 receptions for 817 yards.

He was a free agent after that season and signed a three-year, $10 million deal with the Oakland Raiders. But the Raiders cut him after one season.

The New York Giants signed Jones in July, but they released him on Saturday.

–Packers wide receiver Adrian Coxson, who was taken off the practice field in an ambulance on Aug. 1, announced he is retiring from football.

He said the “next hit to my head could possibly kill me or be life-damaging.”

The rookie was taken to the hospital for additional testing after having extreme dizziness on the third day of training camp.

–The Seattle Seahawks announced the signing of Fred Jackson, but coach Pete Carroll seemed resigned to not having Pro Bowl safety Kam Chancellor, who remains a holdout.

“We have to go ahead. That’s all that everybody wants us to do,” Carroll told 710 ESPN Seattle.

Chancellor is seeking an upgrade over the five-year, $29 million contract he signed in 2013.

–The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Tim Jennings and placed tackle Demar Dotson on injured reserve/designated for return.

Jennings, 31, was cut by the Chicago Bears, even though he maintains he is 100 percent following offseason knee surgery.

–The Houston Texans signed veteran long snapper Jon Weeks to a four-year, $3.9 million contract extension through the 2019 season.

–The Minnesota Vikings added defensive end Zach Moore to their practice squad.

Moore will enter his second season in the league after spending last season with the New England Patriots and earning a Super Bowl ring.

–The New England Patriots signed 10 players to the practice squad, including defensive tackle Jimmy Staten.

The other players signed to the practice squad are: offensive linemen Chris Barker and Blaine Clausell, tight end Asante Cleveland, linebacker Xzavier Dickson, linebackers Darius Fleming and Brandon King, wide receivers Nathan Palmer and Kenbrell Thompkins, and defensive back Daxton Swanson.

–The Washington Redskins signed tight end Anthony McCoy and waived cornerback Deshazor Everett. They also signed fullback Ray Agnew and linebacker Ryan Delaire to their practice squad.
