The Detroit Lions released veteran wide receiver Ryan Broyles on Monday after three injury-filled seasons.

Broyles, the Lions’ 2012 second-round pick out of Oklahoma, expressed his thanks to the organization.

“Lions organization thank you for believing in me from the very beginning,” Broyles wrote, in part, on Twitter. “I have enjoyed my time here. Although it is time for me to move on there will be a special place in my heart for these memories.”

Broyles tore his left ACL during his final season with the Sooners, and then he tore his right ACL during his rookie year with the Lions and tore the Achilles tendon in his left leg in 2013. He returned before the 2014 season but played sparingly throughout the season, with just two receptions for 25 yards.

Broyles met with general manager Martin Mayhew over the weekend and requested his release, according to the Detroit News.

The Lions must reduce their roster from 88 players to 75 by 4 p.m. Tuesday.
