ALLEN PARK, Mich. – Detroit Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy said he plans to start jogging this week, and considering he was already walking around the team facility last Thursday about a week after hip surgery, his recovery seems to be going well.

Despite the Lions starting 1-6, he still hopes to return this season.

“It’s not my decision either way, but I’m doing everything I can do to get healthy regardless of what the decision is,” he said.

Levy played in Week 5 for the first time this season, but aggravated the injury at the end of the first half and underwent surgery later that week.

“Any setback is frustrating,” he said. “It felt really good that week and that game, but it’s a part of it. You’ve got to start over again.”

–The Lions might have scored a touchdown on a late fourth-quarter reception by wide receiver Calvin Johnson, but coach Jim Caldwell said people in the booth advised him against challenging the play that would’ve made it a one-possession game.

Notes: QB Matthew Stafford underwent X-rays on his left hand after the game, but they were negative. … CB Rashean Mathis underwent concussion testing after the game, but was cleared. … Returning to action Sunday after missing at least one game were SS James Ihedigbo, DT Haloti Ngata, TE Eric Ebron while RB Joique Bell returned after missing the last three games and had three carries for 21 yards and two catches for 14 yards.
