New York Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson, a no-show during the voluntary offseason workouts, hasn’t decided whether he will attend next week’s mandatory minicamp without a new contract.

Wilkerson, who has skipped all of the Jets’ organized team activities this season, spoke to reporters Friday night at a bowling event for his charity, T.E.A.M. 96 Foundation, held in his hometown of Linden, N.J.

“It’s just a decision that’s going to be made between me and my agent,” Wilkerson said. “We’ll talk about it.”

Wilkerson, who was taken by the Jets in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft, is due to make $6.97 million, the final year of his rookie contract. He made 55 tackles and 5.5 sackes last season.

Wilkerson said that he will make a decision over the weekend on whether to attend the minicamp, but there are strong indications he will be there.

“It’s a business; I guess it takes a long time,” Wilkerson said of a long-term contract extension. “This is new to me. But, hopefully, something will get done soon.

“I just thought, you work hard on the field and do what you have to do on and off the field, and that’s how you’re supposed to get rewarded.”

On Thursday, Wilkerson’s agent, Chad Wiestling, said he and Wilkerson had yet to decide whether Wilkerson would attend the Jets’ three-day mandatory minicamp next week, Tuesday through Thursday. If Wilkerson skipped all three days, he would be fined more than $72,000, according to the collective bargaining agreement.

The Jets may have gained some leverage by drafting defensive end Leonard Williams with the sixth overall pick.

“He was the best available pick. I definitely look forward to working with him and playing with him in the trenches,” Wilkerson said of Williams.

Wilkerson said has been working out with personal trainers in Atlanta and Maryland.
