The New York Jets will hire Rex Hogan as their director of college scouting and Brian Heimerdinger to a prominent front-office role, according to NFL Network.

Hogan served as a national scout for the Chicago Bears, but was released from his contract. He had been a scout with the Bears since 2004.

Heimerdinger has been working as a scout for the St. Louis Rams for the last three seasons. He is the son of the late Mike Heimerdinger, who spent a year as the Jets’ offensive coordinator in 2005.

Brian Heimerdinger broke into the NFL as an intern with the Texans when new Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan worked in Houston.
