Adding to their tight end depth, the San Diego Chargers claimed Kyle Miller off waivers from the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday.

The Chargers cleared a spot on their offseason roster by waiving defensive tackle Damik Scafe.

Miller, 27, has one game of NFL experience, with the Indianapolis Colts in 2012.

Undrafted out of Mount Union in 2011, Miller (6 feet 5, 262 pounds) signed as a free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars but failed to make the team out of training camp. He subsequently joined the Colts in 2012, spending the bulk of the season on the practice squad before seeing his lone game action on Nov. 18 against the Patriots in New England.

Waived a day later, he was claimed by the Miami Dolphins and spent the remainder of the 2012 season as a game-day inactive player.

He spent 2013 on the Dolphins’ practice squad and then last year with the Falcons’ practice squad.

Scafe, 27, signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College in 2011. He has appeared in just two games for San Diego, both in 2012, and spent the entire 2014 season on injured reserve because of a hip ailment.
