The San Diego Chargers placed right guard Johnnie Troutman on injured reserve with a knee injury suffered in Saturday’s victory over the San Francisco 49ers. The team re-signed offensive lineman Kenny Wiggins to fill Troutman’s roster spot.

Troutman started all 15 games at right guard this season. He was replaced by undrafted rookie Jeremiah Sirles against the 49ers, and the former Nebraska Cornhusker could start Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs. The other option is to move Chris Watt to right guard and start Trevor Robinson at center.

Wiggins spent the first nine games of 2013 on the Chargers’ practice squad before being signed to the active roster for the remainder of the season. He did not appear in any regular-season games, but did suit up for all four preseason games this year before being waived at the end of training camp.
