SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The banged-up San Diego Chargers suffered an amazing 12 injuries during the 29-26 loss to the Baltimore Ravens Sunday, with numerous players not returning.

It added on to a strange season in which the Chargers, it seems, have more significant injuries than big plays.

“The injuries are crazy,” quarterback Philip Rivers said. “I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Among those forced from the game was wide receiver Keenan Allen, who is among the league leaders in receptions, with a kidney injury. Allen battled a hip injury earlier in the year but this looks different and more substantial.

His health is worth watching as the week goes on, but coach Mike McCoy brought up Allen’s injury in the Monday news conference, which is not the norm. McCoy said Allen would be out for “some time.”

–The Chargers were encouraged by outside linebacker Melvin Ingram. Ingram, a former first-round pick, was to be the focal point of the Chargers’ improved pass rush, and it just hasn’t materialized. He had gone three straight games without a sack before picking up 1.5 sacks against the Ravens. Ingram also added six tackles. The key for Ingram is always the next game and whether he can play with the consistency the Chargers have long sought.

–The Chargers’ game against the visiting Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 22 has been flexed from its original prime-time slot. It will now kick off in San Diego at 1:05 p.m. PST, a sign, no doubt, of the Chargers’ lagging interest as a prime-time team.

Still, running back great LaDainian Tomlinson will be introduced into the team’s Ring of Honor that afternoon.

Notes: Wide receiver Keenan Allen (kidney) is expected to miss significant time. . . . Left tackle King Dunlap (ankle) was carted off the field and his availability is in jeopardy this week. . . . . Guard/center Chris Watt (shoulder) left the game. . . . Wide receiver Stevie Johnson (shoulder) was hurt and didn’t return to the game. . . . Tackle Chris Hairston (ankle) left the game and didn’t return. . . . Defensive end Corey Liuget (foot) left the game on a cart and it seems unlikely he will play this week. . . . Tight end Antonio Gates (knee) was able to play Sunday but was compromised and will be cautious in practice this week. . . . Inside linebacker Denzel Perryman (biceps) didn’t play and could be down another week. . . . Free safety Eric Weddle (groin) might be able to play this week. . . . Inside linebacker Manti Te’o (ankle) has missed three straight games. . . . Left guard Orlando Franklin (knee) didn’t play, and it’s uncertain whether he will play in the next game.
