Powell was wounded Friday evening and the Toledo Blade reported he was shot in the face. Police said his injures do not appear to be life-threatening.

Toledo Police said the 22-year-old Powell was wounded in his driveway from shots fired from a car. Witnesses reported seeing three men wearing masks in a gold-colored vehicle.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Powell was signed as a free agent after two years at the University of Iowa. At Iowa, he played in all 26 games and had 31 receptions for 608 yards and five touchdowns.
