The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed journeyman defensive end Lawrence Sidbury and waived cornerback Crezdon Butler on Wednesday.

Sidbury was added to the team’s active roster to bolster the defensive line. He was drafted in the fourth round by Atlanta in 2009 and played with the Falcons in his first four seasons. He has 17 tackles and five sacks in 42 career games.

Sidbury was signed as an unrestricted free agent by the Indianapolis Colts in 2013 and was placed on injured reserve before the start of the season. After Sidbury’s contract expired with the Colts in the spring of 2014, he was signed by the Houston Texans but released less than a month later.

Butler signed with the Bucs on Sept. 10 and played in 11 games. A five-year pro out of Clemson, he recorded 14 tackles for the Bucs.

The Bucs signed cornerback Varmah Sonie from the Arena Football League to their practice squad. Sonie earned first-team All-Arena honors as a rookie in 2014 with the Portland Thunder. He recorded nine interceptions and a franchise-record 86 tackles in 17 games. The Bucs are Sonie’s first NFL team.
