The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have already signed No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston to a multi-year contract.

General manager Jason Licht announced Friday that Winston signed his rookie contract. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the former Florida State quarterback signed a four-year, $23.35 million deal that includes a $16.7 million signing bonus.

Winston will wear No. 3 for the Buccaneers.

On Thursday night, the Bucs selected Winston with the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft at Auditorium Theater in Chicago.

“It was very special,” Winston said Thursday night of hearing his name called while surrounded by family and close friends in Alabama. “Like I said, I’ve got to be thankful, thankful for the (Buccaneers) for giving me this opportunity.

“I’ve got to work. Actions speak so much louder than words, or what they may have read or what they may have heard. It’s about your actions. Whatever is in the past is in the past. I look forward to gaining everyone’s trust.”

Licht acknowledged Friday that Winston may have some growing up to do.

“He’s got to grow up, he knows that, and just like all of our draft picks, who enter the workforce, the NFL, it’s time to get serious,” Licht told Pro Football Talk.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Winston started 27 career games in two seasons at Florida State, completing 562 of 841 passes (66.8 percent) for 7,964 yards, with 65 touchdowns and 28 interceptions. He also rushed 145 times for 284 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Bessemer, Ala., native won his first 26 starts, an NCAA Division I record, leading Florida State to a national championship in 2013 and the first-ever College Football Playoff semifinal game at the Rose Bowl in 2014.

Winston won the 2013 Heisman Trophy Award, along with the Davey O’Brien Award, Walter Camp Award and Manning Award. Winston is the youngest player to ever win the Heisman Trophy, winning the award at age 20.

During his two seasons as a starter for the Seminoles, Winston set national, conference and school records. In 2013, he posted a 184.84 pass efficiency rating, the fourth-best mark in NCAA history and an Atlantic Coast Conference and Florida State record.
