Buffalo Bills offensive line coach Aaron Kromer pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor battery in Florida on Thursday.

His son, Zachery, also pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge.

They are scheduled to appear in court for a pretrial hearing on Sept. 2.

Kromer was arrested in Walton County, Fla., on July 12 after allegedly punching a boy and threatening to kill his family.

The Walton County Sheriff’s office said Aaron and Zachary Kromer were fishing July 11 when they confronted three boys over beach chairs. Kromer is alleged to have hit one of the boys in the face after throwing a fishing pole into the water. According to the sheriff’s report, Kromer then threatened to kill the boy’s family if he reported the incident to authorities.

The Bills placed Kromer on indefinite paid administrative leave on July 14. Assistant offensive line coach Kurt Anderson is expected to take over Kromer’s duties.

The 48-year-old Kromer is in his first year in Buffalo on coach Rex Ryan’s staff after working for two years in Chicago as offensive coordinator. Kromer came under fire last season after admitting he was the source of criticism toward Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.

Kromer previously coached with the New Orleans Saints (2008-12), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2005-07) and Oakland Raiders (2001-04).
