Seattle Seahawks are taking a closer look at Oklahoma State Cowboys DE/OLB Sam Wren

Per a source, the defending NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks are working out Oklahoma State hybrid DE/OLB Sam Wren in Oklahoma on April 14th. Wren finished his senior season with 25 tackles in which seven went for a loss. He also added two sacks and wasted little time impacting the Cowboys’ defense after coming from the Juco level.

Wren originally began his collegiate career at Arizona Junior College earning first-team All-Western States Football League honors after accumulating 14.5 sacks. He also was named defensive MVP of the 2012 El Toro Bowl. He recorded 12 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, and one sack in the MVP performance.

He made a rather easy transition into the Big 12. Wren demonstrates a great ‘get off’ on the ball and never quits on the play. His non-stop motor is difficult not to notice as well as his ability to apply pressure on the quarterback. Wren resembles a combination of both Von Miller and Aldon Smith as he uses the ‘dip move’ like Miller to perfection.

Seattle lost two edge rushers via free agency with O’Brien Schofield (Atlanta Falcons) and Malcolm Smith (Oakland Raiders) signing with new teams. There is not a glaring hole in the Seattle defense, but finding more capable players’ similar to Wren is likely on the Seahawks draft agenda.
