Giants’ Beason to have season-ending surgery

New York Giants linebacker Jon Beason will have season-ending surgery on his big toe and miss the rest of the season, according to multiple reports Monday.

Beason has been trying to play with the injury that he suffered back in June.

Beason has only appeared in four games and ends his season with 11 combined tackles.

Last week, Beason told WFAN radio that there was a “50-50” chance he wouldn’t play again in 2014.

“That’s what we’re trying to decide,” Beason said last Tuesday. “It’s one thing to get it feeling good, but can I be myself and be productive? You try to do everything you can to help the team. Obviously things right now aren’t going well, and we’ve gotta get it turned around immediately. We’ve got the bye week, and you want to take the time to decide if that’s the best course of action.”
