Sean Payton Calls Brandin Cooks Trade Report “Garbage”

It’s been a pretty drama-filled week for the New Orleans Saints. Despite hammering the Los Angeles Rams to the tune of 49-21 last week, wide receiver Brandin Cooks was upset because he wasn’t targeted once by Drew Brees.

After hearing about Cooks’ frustration, head coach Sean Payton wasn’t too concerned, but before today’s game against the Detroit Lions, a report of New Orleans potentially shopping Cooks surfaced. Once Payton found out, he voiced his displeasure.

“It’s garbage,” Payton said. “It’s a false report. It’s an agent picking up the phone. There is nothing more to the report.”

Cooks has 58 catches for 809 yards to go along with six touchdowns on the season.
