The New Orleans Saints have a new protector for quarterback Drew Brees as they selected former Stanford offensive tackle Andrus Peat.

“Stanford offensive linemen are among my favorite things in the world, though Peat is still a bit raw and I’m not sure if the aging Drew Brees can afford rookie mistakes in front of him. In time this should work out pretty well, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there are some bumps next year.” – Alex Hickey

“Andrus Peat gives the New Orleans another new addition to an offensive line that struggled mightily in 2014. Peat is a solid pass protector who is going to have to add strength to succeed at the NFL level. Peat has the potential to grow into a solid pro, but may struggle against the bull-rush from stronger NFL defensive ends early in his career.”- Pat Donovan

“Like the Giants, the Saints prioritized protecting their franchise quarterback Drew Brees with a giant of a man. Peat has the size to be a game changer on the outside of the offensive line, but he does have his flaws in pass protection and many evaluators have questioned his toughness, the last thing you want to hear about a guy charged with protecting your quarterback from some of the strongest and meanest players in the game. But the potential is there and adding Peat and Max Unger this offseason makes the group in front of Brees much better immediately.” – Devon Jeffreys

“As the years go by, Drew Brees is becoming less mobile. When you look at the right side of the Saints’ offensive line, Jahri Evans and Zach Strief are both in their 30’s. Although Peat has shown some inconsistencies, he has great upside. Under the proper coaching, Peat could be an anchor for a very long time.”
