LANDOVER, Md. — Washington wide receiver DeSean Jackson injured his left hamstring while running a deep route on the first play of the Redskins’ second series against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Jackson, who led the NFL with 20.9 yards per catch last year, missed the entire preseason with a sprained shoulder. The Redskins said Jackson won’t return.

The Dolphins announced defensive end Olivier Vernon is questionable to return with an ankle injury.
