Ravens acquire CB Davis from Dolphins

The Sports Xchange

The Baltimore Ravens acquired third-year cornerback Will Davis from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Davis was a third-round pick by the Dolphins out of Utah State in 2013. He has played in 15 career games, but was buried on Miami’s depth chart and inactive for the first two games of this season. He has 20 career tackles to go with three passes defensed and five special teams tackles.

Davis suffered a torn ACL in his right knee last November and was on the roster bubble. He did enjoy a solid preseason, including a pair of interceptions in the exhibition finale.

Secondary depth was a concern for Baltimore entering the season, and the Ravens are giving up an average of 250.5 passing yards through two games after losing 37-33 in Oakland on Sunday. Davis will battle for playing time behind starters Jimmy Smith and Lardarius Webb. Veteran Kyle Arrington is the nickel back with Anthony Levine, Rashaan Melvin, Julian Wilson and Tray Walker also on the roster.
