Jets part with QB Flynn

The New York Jets released quarterback Matt Flynn on Saturday, leaving Bryce Petty as the only backup to Ryan Fitzpatrick while Geno Smith recovers from a broken jaw.

The Jets also cut quarterback Josh Johnson, according to the New York Daily News.

Flynn sent out a tweet, confirming the team’s move.

“Thanks for the opportunity #nyjets, but it looks like I am headed back home to Louisiana. Looking forward to what’s next!” Flynn wrote on Twitter.
