Giants sign 2 draft picks, 6 undrafted free agents

The New York Giants signed safety Mykkele Thompson and offensive lineman Bobby Hart, their fifth and seventh round draft picks, on Thursday.

The 6-foot-2, 191-pound Thompson played in 52 games with 31 starts in four years for the Texas Longhorns. His career totals included 213 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Hart, a 6-4, 315-pounder, played both tackle and guard at Florida State. His 37 career games included 28 starts at right tackle in 2013-14.

Also Thursday, the Giants terminated the contract of wide receiver Kevin Ogletree, waived linebacker Terrell Manning and signed six undrafted rookies — safety Justin Currie of Western Michigan, tackle Sean Donnelly of Tulane, linebacker Cole Farrand of Maryland, defensive end Brad Harrah of Cincinnati, running back Akeem Hunt of Purdue and tight end Matt LaCosse of Illinois.

As a senior in 2014, Currie started in 13 games and led the Broncos in both total (105) and solo (69) tackles. Donnelly started 24 games at right tackle in 2013-14 and 12 games at left tackle as a sophomore in 2012. As a senior in 2014, Farrand played in 12 games with 10 starts and led the Terrapins with 111 tackles (9.2 per game). Harrah played in 42 games in four seasons at Cincinnati. Hunt played in 12 games last season and had career-high totals of 173 rushing attempts for 949 yards and six touchdowns and 48 catches for 293 yards. LaCosse played in 13 games last season and caught 14 passes for 117 yards and three scores.
