Bucs Claim Texans’ S D.J. Swearinger Off Waivers

The Buccaneers are in the midst of a secondary makeover this offseason.

Tampa Bay claimed safety D.J. Swearinger off waivers on Tuesday, the team announced.

Swearinger is the latest addition to a revamped secondary that includes former Chicago Bears free safety Chris Conte.

The former Houston Texan will most likely start alongside Conte manning the other safety position.

The 2013 second-round pick played in 32 games the past two seasons, with 22 starts. He totaled 140 tackles, 10 passes defensed and three interceptions with the Texans.
